Performance Analysis of Two-User Cooperative Diversity System in Rician Fading Channel

This paper presents the analysis of cooperative diversity performance over the uplink Rician fading channel. The time division multiple access (TDMA) scheme and the half-duplex mode of transmission are assumed. The network architecture is defined as symmetrical structure. We analyze the bit error rates (BER) of binary phase shift keying (BPSK) for two-user cooperative diversity with decode-and-forward, selection relaying, and incremental relaying protocols and investigate the effects of various interuser SNRs on the system performance. The result shows that the higher interuser SNRs, the better bit error rate performance. From the performance comparison of all relaying protocols illustrate that the incremental relaying protocol yields the best performance. This is the result of limited feedback in the incremental relaying protocol from the destination yields a great improvement on the system performance.
